iOS 17.3: Big security updates and collaborative playlists coming soon

IOS 17.3 Feature

MacRumors reports that Apple is gearing up to release iOS 17.3 in the first two months of 2024. The update is expected to bring a number of new features and improvements, including enhanced security and collaborative playlists.

Enhanced security

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of password and data breaches.

These breaches are often the result of simple shoulder surfing, where attackers can steal passwords by looking over someone’s shoulder.

To address this issue, Apple is introducing a new security feature called Stolen Device Protection. This feature adds an additional layer of verification to stolen devices, such as Face ID or Touch ID.

If the verification is not successful, access to passwords, Apple Card requests, factory resets, payments, and new device setup is blocked. Additionally, some sensitive features, such as changing your Apple ID password, security updates, passcode changes, and Face and Touch ID changes, are temporarily limited.

Collaborative playlists

Another new feature is collaborative playlists on Apple Music.

This feature allows multiple users to simultaneously manage a single playlist.

Users can also leave reactions to individual songs in the form of animated emoji.

This feature was originally planned for iOS 17.2, but it was removed from the beta due to technical issues. It will be added in iOS 17.3.
