Apple has quietly updated the battery life estimate for its iPhone 15 lineup, doubling it from 500 to 1,000 charge cycles.

The good news

According to 9to5mac the new estimate means that iPhone 15 batteries will retain 80% of their original capacity after 1,000 charge cycles, twice as long as previously stated. This is a significant improvement and will be welcome news to iPhone 15 owners.

Why the change?

Apple has been continuously improving battery technology over the years, and the iPhone 15 is no exception. The company has made several changes to the battery, including using new materials and optimizing the charging process.

What does this mean for you?

If you own an iPhone 15, you can expect your battery to last for much longer than previously thought. This means you can use your phone for longer without having to worry about it running out of power.

This was reported by 9to5 Mac on X:

What about older iPhones?

The new battery life estimate only applies to the iPhone 15 lineup. Older iPhones still have a battery life estimate of 500 charge cycles. However, Apple is currently testing the batteries in older iPhones and it is possible that the battery life estimate will be updated for these models in the future.

How to check your battery health

You can check the current health of your iPhone’s battery by going to Settings > Battery > Battery Health. This will show you the percentage of your battery’s original capacity that is still remaining.
