Rivian Plugs into Tesla’s Supercharger Network, Free Adapter on the Way

Rivian Charging 1
Great news for Rivian owners! As of today, March 18th, 2024, they can officially join Tesla vehicles in using the vast Supercharger network across North America. This expands charging options for Rivian drivers, making long-distance travel more convenient.

The need for a special adapter

But how will Rivian vehicles connect to Tesla’s stations? The answer lies in a special adapter. Rivian will be sending out complimentary NACS (North American Charging Standard) adapters to its customers starting in April. This adapter allows Rivian EVs to utilize Superchargers equipped with the NACS plug.

Rivian isn’t the first automaker to embrace Tesla’s Supercharger network. Ford Mustang Mach-E owners received a similar perk last month. This trend suggests potential collaboration within the EV industry to improve charging infrastructure for all electric vehicle drivers.

With Rivian joining the fold, it’ll be interesting to see if more car companies follow suit and if Tesla opens its network even wider in the future.
