Electric truck fans, rejoice! Chevrolet has revealed some exciting updates for the highly anticipated 2024 Silverado EV RST First Edition. Not only did they reduce the starting price, but they also confirmed a driving range that surpasses expectations.

Sticker Shock Subdued: Price Cut for Early Adopters

Originally, the Silverado EV RST First Edition was expected to hit wallets hard, with a starting MSRP exceeding $105,000 (excluding destination). This price point might have deterred some potential buyers. However, in a welcome change, Chevrolet has dialed back the price tag. The official starting price now sits at a more manageable $96,495, which includes the destination charge. This price reduction makes the electric Silverado a more attractive proposition for early adopters.

More Miles, Less Delay: Extended Range with a Mid-Year Arrival

While the price news is certainly positive, the real shocker comes from the driving range. Initially, Chevrolet estimated the RST First Edition would offer around 400 miles on a single charge. However, the official EPA range has surpassed those expectations by a significant margin. The electric Silverado now boasts a remarkable 440-mile range, putting it at the forefront of electric truck contenders.

There is a slight delay in the delivery timeline, though. Originally slated for a fall 2023 arrival, Chevrolet now anticipates deliveries to dealerships “by mid-year.” To compensate for the wait, Chevy is reportedly including a complimentary bidirectional-compatible charger for those who have held onto their reservations. This charger allows for both charging the truck and using the truck’s battery to power external devices – a valuable addition for any electric vehicle owner.

A Powerful Contender: Potential Battery and Competitive Edge

The impressive 440-mile range suggests the Silverado EV RST might utilize the same 205 kWh battery pack that powers the monstrous GMC Hummer EV. This substantial battery capacity hints at not only excellent driving range but also potentially strong performance. With these specs, the Silverado EV is shaping up to be a powerful competitor in the burgeoning electric truck market.

While we wait for the official mid-year arrival, these updates paint a positive picture for the Chevrolet Silverado EV. The combination of a lower price tag and an industry-leading driving range makes this electric truck a more compelling option for eco-conscious truck enthusiasts.
