Apple Vision Pro, the company's long-awaited mixed reality headset, went on sale on Friday, February 2, 2024. The headset launched with over 600 apps available for download, including 200 that were created specifically for Vision Pro.
Apple Vice President Susan Prescott said during a recent press conference that Vision Pro offers a unique experience that will unlock the imagination of users and developers alike. She added that with 600 apps announced for Vision Pro and a million more available for iOS and iPadOS, users can explore a wide range of apps that push the boundaries of what’s possible.
Developers are promising further development in areas such as spatial computing and modeling. This has the potential to significantly simplify the work of architects, designers, and engineers. Similar features could also be used for educational purposes.
Variety of Apps Available
There are so many apps available for Apple Vision Pro in so many different categories that it’s almost impossible to list them all.
Some of the most interesting apps include productivity apps like Microsoft 365, which includes programs for creating text, presentations, and spreadsheets. Other productivity apps include the translator Navi, JigSpace, MindNode, and OmniFocus. However, we don’t yet have any information about how comfortable it is to type in space.
Apple also offers a number of apps for shopping and relaxation. Those that are focused on shopping for clothes, for example, are equipped with 3D technology for spatial viewing of a particular item. However, it’s also possible to find ordinary grocery stores or sporting goods stores.
The best apps, however, are the games and educational apps, which take on a whole new and refreshing direction in space. In terms of games, classic titles like Jetpack Joyride and Fruit Ninja can be found in the App Store. However, there are also a number of new games that focus more on using mixed reality. Through equally interesting educational apps, Apple Vision Pro can make learning about astronomy or medicine more special.
The launch of Apple Vision Pro with over 600 apps is a sign of the strong interest in mixed reality from both developers and consumers. The headset has the potential to revolutionize the way we work, play, and learn.
