It’s quite busy around Apple today. The Apple giant has officially confirmed the date for this year’s WWDC 2023 conference, which kicks off on June 5, 2023. The event will take place partly in front of a live audience, and big things are expected, including information about a mixed reality headset. One of the main attractions will definitely be the anticipated iOS 17.
One of the biggest events of the year
WWDC is a highly anticipated event every year, and this year will be no different. Apple usually showcases a lot of new products at it, and this year, the talk is mostly about giving us a bit of a sneak peek at its anticipated mixed reality headset. But what we’ll be interested in today is the upcoming operating system for iPhones.
It will be called iOS 17 and will officially arrive this autumn, along with the new iPhones 15. The UI will remain unchanged, but expect lots of new features and a focus on dynamic cutout.
Which phones will get iOS 17?
MyDrivers server comes up with a list of phones that can look forward to iOS 17, and we have bad news for owners of iPhones 8 and the anniversary model X. Unfortunately, these two series most likely won’t get iOS 17 and for the iPhone X, that’s definitely a shame. This piece has been the architect of the biggest changes since the first generation, but the ravages of time are simply unrelenting.
The list of devices that will get iOS 17:
- iPhone SE (2020 to 2022);
- iPhone XR;
- iPhone XS to XS Max;
- iPhone 11, 11 Pro to 11 Pro Max;
- iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro to 12 Pro Max;
- iPhone 13, 13 Mini, 13 Pro to 13 Pro Max;
- iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro to 14 Pro Max.
The new system also applies to five-year-old models
If the above list is true, the oldest models that can look forward to iOS 17 are the 2018 iPhones XR, XS and XS Max. This means that these already five-year-old phones will be able to benefit from the news of the expected iOS 17. So while it’s sad that the iPhone X won’t get this update, what flagship Android phones would give for such support.
