As we know, Apple loves to dictate to its customers what they can and can’t do with iOS. But not everyone wants to put up with the system’s restrictions, and that’s why the jailbreak tool was created, the first version of which saw the light of day back in 2007, with the first iPhone. Apple makes it harder and harder for hackers to create this tool, but they are always successful in the end.
Apple is trying its best, but it won’t eliminate jailbreaking
The giant Apple has been focusing on the security of its iOS system lately also to make it as difficult as possible for hackers to create a jailbreak. And it has partly succeeded in doing so, as hackers have had considerable trouble creating this tool for iOS 15.
But those are over and all lovers of this controversial accessory can start celebrating. As reported by 9to5mac, a new jailbreak named Palera1n has been released, which is compatible not only with the older iOS 15, but also with the new version of iOS 16.
New, but it’s actually 3 years old
The latest Palera1n jailbreak is built on the checkm8 exploit, which was discovered back in 2019. It was found in the boot memory of Apple chipsets from A5 to A11, and this exploit is more or less considered unpatchable. And that’s what the creators of the latest jailbreak took advantage of.
So, it can be run on phones that can be affected by this exploit and at the same time run iOS 15 or 16 on them. There aren’t many devices that can use the Palera1n jailbreak, and they tend to be older devices.
These devices support Palera1n jailbreak
- iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
- iPhone X
- iPad 5
- iPad 6
- iPad 7
- iPad Pro (1st and 2nd generation)
Jailbreak is definitely not for everyone
As the creators of this latest jailbreak state, this is still more of an experimental version intended mainly for developers. The activation process is very complex and requires a Linux or Mac computer. Do you plan to try it out anyway? If so, definitely share your experience in the comments.
